“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” W.B. Yeats

When was the last time you experienced a sense of wonder, of true awe? A magnificent sunset, the blossoming of a tree in Spring?
Wonder is a state of deep attention that creates a sense of calm. It can lower stress levels and have a positive impact on our health and wellbeing. It helps us feel alive, feel pleasure, and become more connected to others.
“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.” ~ E.B. White
But how do we access this sense of wonder more frequently?
Firstly, we need to learn to slow down, to listen, to notice and open our hearts to the possibility of change.
This takes practice and is something we can learn to cultivate daily. In modern society, it’s easy to become lost in busyness, work, constant connectivity, the noise of the news and social media and we find ourselves sleepwalking through life.
For children awe and wonder are all around, everything is fascinating and new. But as we grow older and the responsibilities of life take hold, we can find ourselves becoming disconnected, disillusioned, and burned out. Wonder and the time to experience it can feel elusive and a luxury only reserved for holidays and great adventures. But, when we are able to slow down, quieten the chaos in our head and notice, there is beauty to be found in the small and simple things all around us. We don’t need to retreat to the top of a mountain to find them…they are right here on our doorstep.
Wonder can be fleeting, but it is possible to practice noticing if we learn to put down our phone, close our laptop and begin to see things with new eyes.
So, how do you learn to slow down and start noticing?
Learn how with my Little Piece of Wonder Everyday e-course which was born out of a desire to share what I’ve learned from years of experience attending mindfulness and meditation retreats and courses and seeing the positive effects on my own health and wellbeing. Not only that but having lived with anxiety for many years and having been through some challenging times in my life, I’ve witnessed first-hand how taking the time to be more mindful and experience wonder, no matter how fleeting, can bring immense change.

This course is designed to be gentle and nurturing, without the need to learn countless tools and techniques. It’s an invitation to open up to change, to learn how to listen, to see life anew, to feel. It’s about opening up to your own personal sense of wonder, one day at a time.
